Tigermilk at the Duke

Get your own Billie print here

Here are some of the photographs from Club Bijou, a new jazz club night at the 1920s style bar Tigermilk at the Duke in Plymouth. I'm really excited to be showing my work at Tigermilk and September's Club Bijou was the opening of my exhibition. Head down soon to see my artwork and grab a delicious cocktail or two (...or three).

Photographs taken by Plymouth based photographer Frytography - check out more of his work here

Dancing Urchins

These dancehall urchins have swapped dancing around their handbags for dancing around their heads. I drew these just in time for Halloween, eventually I would like to screenprint these for some great textures. Happy spooking everyone!

She Walks in Beauty

Commissioned illustration of Lord Byron's 1814 poem 'She Walks in Beauty'
Original painting in watercolour and gouache, lettering hand rendered in black ink.
The client's daughter had recently purchased one of my watercolour burlesque drawings and was interested in owning more Marmalade artwork for her home. As a birthday surprise her mother commissioned me to illustrate her favourite poem.

Dancing ghosts

My submission for the Comic Book Slumber Party Anthology - Now I know I'm no comic book artist but I really enjoyed this event; the theme was Camp, I was never allowed to actually camp out during my career as a 7 year old in Brownies but we did camp in my friend's back garden and tell ghost stories.

Here is my illustration in print, risographed next to my pal and comic artist Jack Teagle

Cover by the talented Donya Todd

Straw skirt

Made this as a quick teaching demo for my Intermediate Illustration evening class; we were experimenting with mark making and collage. What started out as a learning experiment ended up looking pretty exciting so think I'll be working with this process again soon.

Mwah! Happy Friday!

Lola's on tour

Hellzapoppin' Lola has been chosen for this year's Council House Open Art Exhibition! From 7th February - 1st April the Plymouth's Council House is showcasing the work of selected local artists. See some examples of other selected artist's work shown below.

It's really great to see some contemporary work being celebrated in Plymouth, I'm looking forward to meeting other artists at the private view on Friday 28th February. I have also been selected to talk about my artwork at one of the lunchtime talks on Wednesday 26th February 12 - 1. The talks will be the perfect opportunity not only to check out the incredible retro decor inside the listed council building but to hear first hand what has inspired the artist's featured. More info here

I will be updating soon with more info about the lunchtime artist talks - Wish me luck!

"Let no one say that Catwoman isn't the best dressed woman in the world"

Eartha Kitt; singer, Catwoman and suspected spy! Her book is on my Christmas list, hope Father Christmas brings it down the chimney so I can start a project about her.

Vogue, August 2013

Really enjoying just doing some drawings and not worrying, looking forward to developing these sketchbook pages into something new. These are based on Vogue's Autumn/Winter August 2013 issue

The Devil's Music

Drawings of Blues musicians from the 1970's music documentary 'The Devil's Music'.

It has been ages and ages since I posted new drawings on here, a few months ago I used this amazing documentary as a starting point for my sketchbook. It also inspired me to start to attempt to play the ukelele and sing/wail in my kitchen.
